Hello my name is Erik Wallace and I have just moved to Richmond VA
from Greenville NC. I was a mechanic at Lee Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick for almost
eight years. I quit last year and joined the Coast Guard Reserves and have
started school full time now. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow
up. This is my 1987 Chevrolet Silverado. My parents gave the truck to me last
year. My folks weren't using the truck anymore and they couldn't stand to see
it just sit around so I brought it home to rub on it a little bit. The truck
was bought from the original owner by my parents a few years ago. It is a half
ton with a 350 and a 700R-4. The original motor had missed a few oil changes
and began to smoke and lose oil pressure when it was hot. I decided to
sacrifice one of my own to help out the folks. I had a 1976 pickup that I was
rebuilding the engine in but I decided to junk the truck because it was rusted
out and Mom needed and engine in her truck. The cab had already been replaced
once, in my 76, and it was gone again. The 4-bolt block was bored .030 over and
I installed a GM Performance Parts cam part no. 12353918. It sounds good now
but I can't wait to put some dual exhaust on the truck so I can hear the engine
rumble. I have Summit headers, Flowmaster mufflers, and stainless steel exhaust
tips to install on the truck. The paint on the top of the truck just started to
peel off so my friend Wayne Colbert just put a slick base coat-clear coat
paintjob on the truck in the factory color of 29U. The wheels are 15X8 rally
wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/As. I want to put some 15X10 rallys on the back
and lower it a few inches. This is a work in progress and I want to thank you
for having such a cool website. I enjoy looking at the trucks and getting ideas
for my own ride. Semper Paratus.
